Cabrillo National Park Engagement | Nicole & Andy, San Diego CA
Nicole + Andy
Cabrillo National Monument Engagement Session || San Diego, CA - Coronado, CA
I first met these two Chicago cutie pies last year while they were in San Diego visiting family. I photographed their family in Coronado on a gorgeous spring day in May and during the session I spent some time photographing these two on the beach (click here to see the image). We connected instantly and Nicole asked me if I was available for booking the following year to be their WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER... I of course said YES!!!
When they told me the story of how they met each other while volunteering in the medical mission field my heart almost burst!!! There have been several moments like this with these two over the course of getting to know them. During their engagement session I asked Andy to whisper something sweet in Nicole's ear, only to then see Nicole's eyes well up with the happiest tears of joy. I asked what Andy whispered and she responded with the reasons why he married me. And then of course there was the way that Nicole looks at Andy. EVERY single gaze is filled with so much LOVE, and appreciation of her best friend. They often refer to each other as best friend and the way they both bring out the best in each other is inspiring.
We spent the morning walking around the Cabrillo National Monument in Point Loma, San Diego. It was the perfect setting for the formal part of their session and the lighthouse was a special little addition. BECAUSE in less than two weeks we will celebrating their wedding at Tom Ham's Lighthouse on the San Diego Bay. These two brought a little of the windy city into our session that day too! As the winds kicked up while we were on the cliffs, our faces literally felt frozen and we had to really work for the two shots you see below. They held each other tight and laughed their way through the moments of cold and I'm so glad they braved those winds together. This is my favorite photo from their session.
"But you look sweet upon the street, On a bicycle built for two
We will go tandem as man and wife Daisy, Daisy
Peddling our way down the road of life, I and my daisy bell"
We spent the rest of our session back on Coronado Island riding bikes around the neighborhoods and along the harbor. And this was no ordinary bike ride. We rented a tandem electric bike at Pedego Electric Bikes . And these two just kept the cuteness coming!
